What is the bimonocular vision optical instrument?

The Bimonocular Vision Optical Instrument is a high-precision instrument which creates bimonocular vision (also referred to as two-eyed monocular vision), which can perform binocular fusing and create binocular fusion, and all this in the simplest form, namely with a vertical boundary (edge), by fusing the images of both eyes in and out of each other. This means the user can see with the bimonocular vision setting of the instrument in a monocular way with both eyes at the same time over the entire visual field without visual field loss. Additionally, one can personalize binocular fusion by fusing the monocular images of both eyes in and out of each other.

The instrument can also measure bimonocular vision, how bimonocular vision is constructed, and create bimonocular vision in different ways in the visual field with an accuracy up to a hundredth of a millimeter (0.01 mm).

The instrument can also measure the amount of binocular fusion, exactly where binocular fusion takes place in the visual field, how binocular fusion is constructed, and can move/relocate a particular created amount of binocular fusion to different parts of the visual field with an accuracy up to a hundredth of a millimeter (0.01 mm).

The optical instrument can be used for bimonocular vision (two-eyed monocular vision) tests,  binocular fusing and binocular fusion vision tests, eye measurements,  and is useful for diagnostics, in order to relieve vision problems.

'Two-eyed monocular vision can be found in ophthalmology as bimonocular vision'.

The bimonocular vision optical instrument is available at the webshop in English or webshop in het Nederlands on this website. It includes a facial carrier with temples and a clip-on for attaching to eyeglasses. If you are not a patient but a medical practitioner ophthalmologist or orthoptist and you want to purchase the bimonocular vision optical instrument for the first time, we recommend purchasing the ophthalmic vision test starter kit  first because the vision test contains an extensive technical description and explanation.

What can the bimonocular monocular vision optical instrument mean for vision problems?

The bimonocular vision optical instrument can be used for fusion disorders, to relieve or eliminate complaints resulting from binocular vision dysfunction.

Bimonocular vision is monocular vision while both eyes are used over the original full visual field of both eyes, which means the bimonocular vision setting of the optical instrument will increase your monocular field of view by 30% compared to one-eyed monocular/ eyepatch.

The optical instrument can  be used for bimonocular vision tests, eye measurements, diagnostics and relieving neuro-visual complaints.

It is an instrument which can be used for vision therapy and vision training.

Visual field

When the optical instrument is properly adjusted, the sliding pieces in the optical instrument do not obstruct / do not block the field of vision. Thusly, the field of vision remains fully intact which means there is no visual field loss.

Summary of Indicative Demonstrations in Clinical Context

The Bimonocular Vision Optical Instrument was informally demonstrated to a few eye doctors and orthoptists in various clinical settings, including hospitals and practices. Although no formal research or collaboration took place, the device was briefly observed during vision tests using anaglyph filters and a synoptophore. Initial visual impressions confirmed that the device produces the type of optical image described by the developer. This included indications of enhanced visual fusion in cases of retinal imbalance and a possible increase in visual comfort for individuals experiencing motion sensitivity. Based on informal professional feedback, the instrument might offer supportive value in certain visual conditions, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma-related suppression, or binocular fusion disorders, depending on the individual case.

Vision test for:  Bimonocular Vision + Binocular Fusion by Fusing

The bimonocular vision optical instrument can be used with various existing ophthalmic vision tests
and has already passed these tests.

The Bimonocular Vision Optical Instrument can be used in combination with various existing ophthalmic vision tests and has previously been informally applied during such tests.

Some of these vision tests were performed in the presence of Belgian eye care professionals during clinical visits. .

These practical sessions contributed to the development of a new ophthalmic vision test kit. This kit includes the Bimonocular Vision Optical Instrument used alongside several existing stereotests, newly devised ways for performing vision tests, and a printed instruction manual describing the test procedures and outcomes.

This vision test demonstrates how to create Bimonocular Vision + Binocular Fusion while executing Fusing and  is available as a kit at the webshop of this website.
If you want to gain new knowledge or a deeper more detailed understanding of how binocular
fusion works by fusing the visual images in and out of each other yourself, as well as an explanation and demonstration of how bimonocular vision works as you've never seen it before, then this
vision test is for you.

In the vision test kit, you will find an in depth explanation and demonstration how bimonocular vision is created / constructed, how it works, how it can be adjusted + how binocular fusion is
created / constructed, how the visual images can be fused into each other and out of each other by fusing, how this fusing works, and how it can be adjusted. Meanwhile, everything can be measured and created with the bimonocular vision optical instrument to an accuracy up to a hundredth of a millimeter (0.01 mm).

Eye / Vision Measurements & Diagnostics

When the width distance of the sliding pieces of the optical instrument are set to the correct distance the position of the sliding pieces and the visual image can be measured by the ophthalmologist to gather relevant information. Measuring the correct width distance is important for determining well functioning bimonocular vision and for determining well-functioning binocular fusion. The sliding piece settings can also be useful in determining what the visual problem was in the patient. For example, it can help identify a fusion problem or a more general binocular vision dysfunction problem.

The visual image construction/formation from bimonocular vision and binocular fusion can also be measured with the sliding piece settings of the instrument. This is great knowledge to help determine exactly where binocular fusion takes place in the visual field (demonstrated in the vision test). All of this information is measurable with an accuracy up to a hundredth of a millimeter (0.01 mm).

Treatment

The bimonocular vision optical instrument is also a three-step way to create and adjust binocular fusion for a patient in the correct way.

The correct way to create binocular fusion is to start with bimonocular measurements and then go to the next step of creating the correct amount of fusing (this was not possible before with monocular vision) until the desired amount of binocular fusion in the right place of the visual field is created. Creating binocular fusion is also not possible if you start with binocular vision because then you are just occluding binocular/fusion vision.

As mentioned above, it is not possible to create binocular fusion from monocular vision or from binocular vision. But it is possible to create binocular fusion from bimonocular vision that's why we consider the bimonocular vision optical instrument to be the correct instrument to create and work on binocular fusion.

The correct three steps to preform binocular fusion:

(1) from bimonocular vision - (2) to doing binocular fusing - (3) to achieving correct binocular fusion.

Important In Connection With Intellectual Property !

If you want to perform the 3-step way in your practice without the bimonocular vision optical instrument: step-1 bimonocular vision - step-2 binocular fusing - step-3 binocular fusion then purchase the starter kit because it states that you will be given permission to do this.

If you want to integrate the bimonocular vision optical instrument design

and related Bimonocular vision [ two-eyed monocular vision ]  &  binocular fusing and fusion images in, for example, eyeglasses then purchase the starter kit because it states that you will be given permission to do this.

The now fully developed 3-steps replaces visual binasal occlusion which refers to any shape / form of visual binasal occlusion within the far periphery (diagonal visual binasal occlusion with the aim of straightening crossed eyes is not included and therefore excluded from this). If you want to continue working on binasal occlusion then purchase the starter kit because it states that you will be given permission to do this.

Successfully tested subgroups within binocular vision dysfunction

where bimonocular vision optical instrument could be used:

To relieves or eliminate complaints of:

- Binocular Diplopia - Double Vision

- The ability to see more clearly / more sharp

- Visual Motion Sensitivity

- less eyestrain / less tired eyes while car driving

- Relieves pressure on the eyes

The bimonocular vision optical instrument can be used as an alternative to an eye patch ( a 30% increased monocular visual field), prism glasses, eyeglasses, contact lenses or as an alternative to eye surgery. It can be used without eyeglasses, on top of or in combination with eyeglasses. It can also be used for short term intermittent use if one does not want to wear an eye patch, prism glasses, eyeglasses or contact lenses all the time.
